Richard_1010
Hi all, What is the difference between the Protx Direct module and the Protx Form module? I plan on accepting Protx but unsure to which one i should be installing? Or do i install both? Thanks in advance :)
Guest
http://www.protx.com/products/vsp_form.asp http://www.protx.com/products/vsp_direct.asp Basically Form requires people to leave you site and go to the protx server to process payment then return (like standard paypal). With direct it all happens in the background and they never leave your site. You need SSL for Direct (it can be argued that you need SSL even if you only had COD as you are still taking customer's details). There is no need for both, most people prefer Protx Direct as it looks more professional. Tom
Richard_1010
Thank you Tom for your reply. I haven't got SSL installed and wasn't planning on getting one installed although my host does offer me a shared SSL. (128-bit) With Direct is SSL 100% needed or is it a very recommended option? Does the shared SSL count as me having a SSL? 1 other question, does Protx Form have the same problem as the Paypal standard module in the sense that if the customer doesn't return then the order is not marked in the admin area? I have got the IPN Paypal installed to sort this problem out with Paypal. Sorry if these questions are simple! Thanks again :D
Guest
I believe that shared SSL will work but haven't personally tested it - unfortunately SSL is an absolute requirement for Direct. You say that you weren't planning on having SSL - I would seriously reconsider this as it will put customers off if they are asked for personal details such as name and address and email etc without the security of SSL (they generally know to look for the padlock!) I don't have much experience of Protx Form - I would look through the support thread for that. Tom
