wn6
Hi a client of mine has been happy with the OsCommerce store I built for him for the last few months now. Adding product has been easy. However he has contacted me to say the ability to upload images has stopped - he can ftp the image folder but can't images through the admin panel???? Any ideas anyone nothing has change expect 'an ad words consultant' added some code to the checkout.php file. However we have taken that out now and it still doesn't work. He can add product lisitings but we can't upload images. Anyone?
web-project
any errors? The problems can be: 1) account quota is full 2) hard disk on a server is full 3) php has been upgraded on server with incorrect settings without looking into logs, the reasons can be various. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. IronMac
My friend is having the same sort of problem. She can upload the pics and they are there in the images' folder/directory and she can see them in her Admin(?) panel but they do not show up on her "What's New" page. Her site used to work fine and then this happens all of a sudden. The problems listed...nos. 1 & 2 are out...maybe it's no. 3?

Guest
Check the permissions for the images folder. To upload images it should be 777 but ONLY while uploading images. Otherwise it should be 755. There are lots of threads about images folders being hacked because people leave them as 777. In the admin you don't actually have to upload the image, you just need to be able to add it image to the DB. So if you "pretend" to add the image in the admin and then ftp the actual image to the site you can always keep the images folder as 755 which is the safer way to go. Ok, I've just checked the permissions on the images folder and it is set to 777. I'll have to see if my friend would want to change that. As for your second paragraph, I don't really understand it but maybe my friend does. I'll get back to you tomorrow afternoon and thanks for the assist. :)

Ok, I've asked my friend to look at this and she has no idea how to "pretend" to add the image in the admin. She's gone through the admin and she can do a preview and it also says "file upload successful" and the pics are in the images folder when I check using my ftp program. But, when you look at her "What's New" page, the images do not show up. All we see are an "X" or a double line description of the new product. Everything is there, just that the images do not show up.
IronMac
Another thing that's odd is if she replaces any of the older products' images with one of the newer images, she gets the same result...an "X" indicating a broken link.
IronMac
Ok, resorted to asking my webhost (ASO) if the problem could be due on their end and here is what they say: I am not sure what happened but when I go to the preview of the item that has been uploaded I see the error"Warning Warning: No file uploaded." At the top of the page. This happens with new images uploaded as well as the items you pointed out having a problem. I have checked the server imagemagick is installed netpbm is installed, gd is installed I tested all 3 of these programs and they all worked fine. Anyone have any suggestions? Or should my friend just move on over to Zen Cart?

Or should my friend just move on over to Zen Cart? You normally get this if say, you are changing descriptions in admin and don't change the image. This does not matter. If you are adding products or chaging images, you have to add the image via admin. At the page where you have Categories / Products click new product when you are in the directory where you want the new product and image to be. After your text edots, Scroll down to where it says Products Image: and browse to the location of that file on your PC. OSC takes care of the rest. The same process applies for changing images. Hope that helps.
lemon106
Leslie (or anyone else reading this), I am doing all of the steps you mentioned, but I cannot get a product image to come up in the preview. It just comes up as a box with a red x in it. After selecting "New Product", I go into the page where I put a title, price, etc. In the Products Image space, I use the browse button to browse for the image I want on my computer. The text in the box now says: C:\Documents and Settings\Nicole Jones\My Documents\HTML\DietFreedomPkg.jpg I then press preview and no image comes up. Should I be putting this in a different format? Do I need to upload it somewhere onto the server? It seems like it should be so easy, and yet, it's just not working. It's coming up as a box with a red x in it. Thank you for any help that you or anyone else can offer! Nicole You normally get this if say, you are changing descriptions in admin and don't change the image. ♥geoffreywalton
"When i upload the file, it says file successfully uploaded." How did you upload the file? Try uploading the image using an ftp client such as filezilla.
