Lucky#13 Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Hello All, I have been troubled with a problem while adding product, or at least it only seems to happen when working in the admin. Users adding product with Internet Explorer 7 seem to be having a problem with site connection. After adding one or two products the site becomes unresponsive to them as well as any other visitor on the admin and catalog side. I have installed chemo's cache contribution as well as others for a speed problem we had previously. I am still having the connection issue though. I have been unable to initiate the unresponsiveness while using firefox or while using internet explorer 7 at a different location (i.e. my house - which is a different isp, cable not dsl) I am just wondering if anyone else is having these issues or may be able to offer suggestions. Could it be IE7, host, ISP or the site? Thank you in advance. M
IronMac Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 No probs. Well, I am not sure what u mean by adding products...I am going to assume that you mean customers adding product to the shopping cart although I could be wrong. Anyways, I started up Netscape (not Firefox because I was worried about your site hanging FF and I can't let FF go down) and did some shopping on your site. It's VERY fast. I added about six products from both the front page and from the Audi/Volks' section and can detect no lag at all. Hope others will chime in. :)
usernamenone Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Well, quite simply put you have a free non functioning template. it is html files named .php Guess you will need to buy the template to get the functioning software or learn how to hack php.

I don't see how this template is any different than any other template out there?
usernamenone Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Really. where did you get it and how much did you pay for it. Does it have all the files inside that the osc download has inside the folder. Do you have an admin folder? ?? I don't see how this template is any different than any other template out there?

Do you have an admin folder? It shouldn't matter what we paid for it and yes, all of the stock osc files came with it. Yes we do have an admin folder (the name has been changed). Thanks for the reply, but I don't see how any of this has to do with the problem at hand. I appreciate your responses, but if you could validate your assumptions with an explanation. Thanks.
Lucky#13 Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 After reviewing a post suggesting that descriptions may hinder answers; I have returned to describe the issue. At this point, I am at a loss. The problem occurs on both sides of the site, Admin and Catalog. While a user is adding product or browsing the site in the Admin section, the site becomes unresponsive. The connection not available page comes up; "This page is unavailable" and it goes on to list the possibilities for this problem. After the admin page hangs for one user, If another user at the same location tries to access the page, it will not load. At this time, we have tried numerous things; 1. Connection to the site using a proxy shows that the page is still available and we are able to browse the site using a proxy. 2. A ping to the site shows no packet loss and 100% data transfer. 3. Users at other locations are able to connect to the site while it is still showing unavailable at our location. After about 5-10 minutes, the site is accessible again. As soon as a user with IE7 tries to navigate the admin page, it will time out again and everyone at the location will be unable to view the site. Users with IE6 and Firefox have been unable to initiate the connection problem, but once the IE7 user gets the connection error, everyone on that location gets it. I know this sounds crazy, but I cannot get the problem to duplicate from my home or others work computers. In fact, the computers that receive the error have been used by the same individual at one point in time. He is able to get the connection problem at his home PC and at the two computers at work that he has used. The only common factors are the computers are using IE7 and the same guy. I have thought that it may be the network, but I am not able to get the site to hang while using the same internet connection using ff and ie6. Also the individual has a different ISP at home and is able to duplicate the problem. I guess my main question is whether or not people with ie7 have been getting the same results or if this is a isolated issue. Also, if there are some things we should be looking at directly. At this point, we are at a loss and it is making it very hard to add product consistently. The Details: ISP's: Comcast Cable SBC DSL Computers: Dell 3000-----------------------IE7 -- experiences problem. 2 other different model Dell--IE7 on both--Each one experiences problem MPC T3000 --------------------Problem only exists after connection issue has been initiated by another pc. Browsers tested: IE6 -------unable to cause connection problem. FF 2.0-----unable to cause connection problem. IE7--------causing the connection problem. Exact Error: The connection has timed out The server at www.sgwheelsonline.com is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Guest Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 The only common factors are the computers are using IE7 and the same guy. And probably the same firewall software then. Turn it off and see what happens. I do not think it is an osC problem but rather a firewall or IE problem. Try Google and you will fine a lot of threads similar but the answer might be harder to find.
Lucky#13 Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 Web Host, Thanks for the quick reply. Checked the firewalls...One is McAfee, Norton and lastly Windows Firewall. Sorry I forgot to mention that. I have been searching around, but I think your right, the answer is going to be hard to find. I have been able to locate a lot of similar stuff, but as they say; close but no cigar. ;)
Lucky#13 Posted June 27, 2007 Author Posted June 27, 2007 haha, that's the conclusion I was coming too. Thanks again. Matt
