allcanes.com
I've been trying to solve this issue for weeks now. My site (allCanes.com) is not regenerating new passwords. Customers who've forgotten their password are typing in their email addy and requesting a new password, but the email is never sent. We are at a point where we have to delete their accounts and have them re-sign up. Obviously this is no long-term solution. How would I go about solving this problem? What might've happened to stop passwords from being generated and how would I fix this? Please advise. I have some aggrivated customers and I've gotten nowhere with osCommerce this past week trying to get an answer. Very frustrating.
germ
Just for "grins and giggles", I registered at your site. I did the "lost password" procedure... The new password was in my "inbox" almost before I let off the click button on the mouse... Actually, it arrived before the "registration" email did..... Honestly.. I wouldn't jest about something like this.... Something to ask your Host, is this: Is their email configured to put "Reverse DNS Lookups" in email headers? Some providers will automatically trash emails without them. AOL used to be that way when we had them as a provider a few years ago... Maybe the people who don't get the "lost password" have their email set up to "auto delete" SPAM? And, your email is somehow being flagged as SPAM. Or they don't check their SPAM folder. Have them put admin AT allcanes DOT com (put that way to reduce your risk of being SPAMMED by SPAMBOTS) in their addressbook, and try again. Can you trace it down to one or a set of email domains (like it's always customers from AOL.COM, or MSN.COM, etc.) who don't get the "lost password" email? If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. allcanes.com
Jim - You rule. Thank you. We'll get on this. We've had customers calling our shop as recently as yesterday saying they're not getting an email sent their way. I think it's more than just going into a SPAM folder as so many customers have this complaint. I will attempt to trace it down to a specific set of email domains. Nice call. I'll ask my hosting company what might be up on their end. Very appreciated. - CB Just for "grins and giggles", I registered at your site. I did the "lost password" procedure...
