Trying To Upload A Template...

Hey everyone - my husband and I are trying desperately to upgrade our online store with a new template. We found a few we like online at www.activeebiz.com, but they all require MySQL version 4.1. Our site is hosted and uses MySQL version 5.0 - obviously we can't change it. We sent an email to the gurus at the site to make sure that if we purchased a template from them, it would work with 5.0. However no reply...so, here are my questions to you the experts:

1. If we purchase a template, what do we need to do to make sure it is compatible with MySQL 5.0 (if the description doesn't state as such)

2. Do you recommend any sites to use for templates that offer great customer support?

I have read through the forum and many of the threads are somewhat foreign as I am not computer savvy. I did see one post where somebody ranted and raved about the nil support they received from a purchased template. We are avoiding that site.

Any help would be fantastic - thanks for your time.

One simple truth: Never use a template. Handcode it yourself.

I wish that my husband and I had the computer knowledge to hard code the website ourselves. However, this is our first venture into the web world of e-commerce and perhaps with the next website, we'll be able to hard code it ourselves. Thank you for replying to our posts though! We will try and remove the code for the manufactures drop box...

If there is something that we really need to know about templates that will hamper our biz ops or security, you have peaked my interest. Do tell!
