Show New Products In Listing View

Is there a way to show new products in the listing view?

 

I have the product code, thumbnail image, product description and buy now buttons displayed and all I really need to do is display a 'NEW!' symbol or bit of text next to the product description so users know which products are new while they browse.

 

Can anyone help with a bit of code?
