dleifm Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Hi there folks, This is my first time using OSCommerce and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I have a question though... how do I change my admin password? (To clarify, that's the password I have to enter when I go to www.mysite.com/catalog/admin/ Thanks.
bill110 Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 that depends on how you set it. if set at your host through their control panel then reset it there. If you use .htaccess then generate a new encrypted password to using an encryption tool, edit your .htpasswrd file with the new password and your done. You can use the contribution in my sig to generate the password. dleifm Posted June 21, 2007 Author Posted June 21, 2007 Hi bill110, Thanks for your advice. Pardon my noob-ness... The only set my password was during the OSCommerce web-based installation procedure. (http://www.oscommerce.info/docs/english/e_web_based_installation_procedure.html) I followed the recommended Post-Installation procedure and deleted the catalog/install/ folder, so I'm not sure how to access this set-up procedure again. (Or if I even need to.)
Jack_mcs Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 The standard install doesn't set up password protection for the admin. You should contact your host and ask them if they offer that option in their control panel. Otherwise, generate your own as Bill suggested.
