I am doing my store on another server and when I'm done I wanna move it will it be hard? I know I can just copy the files over. How would I transfer the sql database?

It depends on how much you know.

 

You have to download a copy of your existing database tables. Go to your new server and import those tables. Copy all of the files from your old site to the new site and update your configure.php and admin configure.php files to match your new site. Then make sure you set all of the folder permissions correctly. Refer to your old site to double check all the folder permissions.

 

After that, you should be up and running!

I just migrated osCommerce from a server with Fedora to one with CentOS. I had Plesk on both.

 

1. backed up osCommerce with the backup tool in the admin section of the application

2. used the migration tool with Plesk and migrated the data

3. everything look good but to be on the safe side I uploaded the backup to the new server

 

no complaints so far
