Creating a JS Error for shipping anyone?

Can someone help me out please?

 

I am trying to have the shipping options during checkout have the same type function that the select payment has by making sure that one of the choices is selected.

 

Currently, if a shipping option is selected that produces an error, the customer can still checkout and can get away from having to select a shipping method.

 

I am using version 2.2

 

Hopefully some of you high-speed coders out there can square me away.
