I Am Having Problems With Instant Downloads

Hey I hope someone can give me some info about this.

 

I have this setup to sell instant downloads of ebooks.

 

I signed up for a test account and made a purchase. Here is what has happened:

 

I have the maximum downloads set to 10 and the expiry set to 7 days

 

After I place the order it shows only 1 download remaining.

 

If I click the download link it just goes to a blank page.

 

What is going on with this?

I have solved all of these issues escept for the blank page when clicking the download link.

 

Basically I click on the download link from within my test account - the page I am redirected to after Paypal - and all I get is a blank page.

 

The link looks like this:

 

myurl/download.php/order/9/id/pub/.sqjzrkfqpoiksotrnsf/cookie.zip

 

I would really like to know why the instant download isnt working and what I may do to correct it.

I've found that there are issues with using the download by redirect option (found under configuration->downloads). I ended up turning this off and my downloads work without a hitch.

I get the same problem when someone goes to their download after paypal they are sent to a 404 error page or blank page. This means I have to send the direct link with every order. How can I automate this process? Someone suggested that I change permissions of my downloads folder to 755 from 777 and also to change define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false'); to true in configure. php at includes. I dont know if I should follow this advice as I dont want to mess things up further. Everything else works fine. Hope someone can help me. I am a new user so sorry if I shouldnt have replied to this post but it seems the most relevant. Thanks in advance for any help with this.
