nudylady Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I don't want to my website to be visible to New york state. I am on a shared plan. Should I do this on oscommerce setting or on hosting server?
germ Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I may be wrong here (and please someone correct me if I am!!!), but I don't think that is technically feasible or possible. It is possible to ban visitors by IP address, but trying to blanket an entire state like that sounds like a pretty tall order to me. Besides, they could live in NY but connect via AOL (for instance) through a server in Virginia. In that case, your site would see the IP address from the Virginia server, even though the person actually resided in NY. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Avec Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Yeah, the closest you can get is IP block using .htaccess.
satish Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 You can stop people from being members if there state is NY. Plus allowing people to look in only if they are members. This way NY people can be avoided. The other way id IP which will not block all NY people. Satish Ask/Skype for Free osCommerce value addon/SEO suggestion tips for your site.
