scotsparaman Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Am still in process of developing my first store and needing some constructive critisim. The name, items etc are all just place holders and are not what i intend on selling. I am hoping to replace the header with a flash header although am struggling with that at the moment. Any way heres the url https://pantythieves/pantyshop/ . This is not going to be the final url or server for hosting hence the reason why I have not set up the ssl for it. My friend has kindly let me use his server to configure this store. I also havent got around to changing the images for the buttons from the original ones, but I'm getting there. Thanks guys.

zhexiang Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Absolutely nothing. Maybe those panty thieves stole the osc, instead of panty. But why panty?
PD_Steve Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 It is there at pantythieves.co.uk/shop Its very different to the rest of the sites on that domain and I think that is quite strange. I would have tried to brand the whole idea to pull together a standard image of what pantythieves are or alternatively chosen a new domain name. For selling high specification PC's I would have opted for a more technological look also rather than greens. Your phpbb2 forums are more what I would have thought would have worked for a technical looking site. Apart from that, you have a bit of work to do and I would definitely stop using a self signed SSL certificate and purchase one that will validate correctly. You have a good base start and have almost managed to do the difficult which is to remove the stock look osCommerce design. On a technical note. What is an Nvidia 690i motherboard? Your Quad system intrigued me as I have a Quad on a 680i with SLi 8800 GTX and an Ageia Physx card and there was no room left for a soundcard. Your system includes a soundcard so does the 690i have more slots? Cheers My Toolbox: Crimson Editor, Adobe Photoshop CS2.0, Expression Web, Macromedia Suite 8.0, Cinema 4D, Nvu.
scotsparaman Posted June 22, 2007 Author Posted June 22, 2007 Firstly i'd like to thank you for your replies, but did no one actually read my initial post? This is what I did write!!! Keep up! Sorry for the incorrect url. I have put all those products in to test out the features of oscommerce. Again this is my first shop and my first time using oscommerce. Am finding it very hard to configure as I have absolutely no knowledge of html, php, css or mysql. So doing not to bad! The store will eventually become an urban clothes store hence the colour scheme. Thanks again. P.s If anyone wants o hint at how to use flash with oscommerce don't be shy!!! x

P.s If anyone wants o hint at how to use flash with oscommerce don't be shy!!! x Flash can be embedded quite easily if you use something called swfobject. Do a google search and you should find a lot of sites hosting this. It also gets around that annoying "click here to activate" which you see on a lot of flash sites. The its just a case of adding it in the same way you would an image but using the swfobject code to place it in javascript. Probably best to ask for comments when the site is actually on its correct domain displaying the items your planning on selling. I doubt many people actually read the spiel at the top of the page and just click the link to take a peek and then comment on their first opinions. I know I do :).
