Grodt Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 I already have a web site that is live, but i want to add a shopping cart to the existing pages. Is that possible to add a shopping cart to the existing web pages or do i have to start from scratch?
richieboy29 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 just create a subdirectory and an unrelated database and you can link to your shop from your main page. although I would strongly recomend if you are unsure that you back everything up first.

Is that possible to add a shopping cart to the existing web pages or do i have to start from scratch? if you install osc to a sub folder (not the root) and put a link to that subfolder you can open the store... Example: public_html/mystore (root/mystore)
♥Vger Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 just create a subdirectory and an unrelated database and you can link to your shop from your main page. if you install osc to a sub folder (not the root) and put a link to that subfolder you can open the store... And if anyone backtracks to your files in the root at any time their session id will be dropped and their shopping cart emptied and they'll get logged out --> start from scratch. Vger
Grodt Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Thanks for your replies, I will start from scratch. Now, any suggestions on any good links that will guide me trough changing or modifying some of the code? Thanks Frank

Dennis_gull Posted June 17, 2007 Posted June 17, 2007 If you already have a site and want to sell a couple of items I would use paypals cart (although I got no experience with it) otherwise you should start from scratches with oscommerce :)
