1054 - Unknown Column 'p.products_id' In 'on Clause'

Hi,

I built a shop for someone and left them to enter products. I just looked at the shop to see how they are getting on and they are getting this error all over the site (as soon as you try and click any item / catagory.

1054 - Unknown column 'p.products_id' in 'on clause'

select count(p.products_id) as total from products_description pd, products p left join manufacturers m on p.manufacturers_id = m.manufacturers_id, products_to_categories p2c left join specials s on p.products_id = s.products_id where p.products_status = '1' and p.products_id = p2c.products_id and pd.products_id = p2c.products_id and pd.language_id = '1' and p2c.categories_id = '26'

Any ideas on what they did/how to fix it?

HI - thanks but my hosting provider offers the oscommerce as a feature. Im a bit worried about overwriting their files.

Can you tell me how this error occured? This is my 3rd shop build and i havent seen this before. I just spoke to my friend and she seems to have simply enter 2 new products in the correct way.

You should always use the official site for your store's code (that was the link I posted). The archive includes instructions how to do a manual update of the files. Otherwise you should ask your "hosting provider" to fix it.

It's caused by a Mysql compatibility problem. If it wasn't there originally, it is because your host updated their version of Mysql. To fix it, you will need to upgrade as Mark mentioned. It is unlikely your host will have the latest files - most don't. And even if they did, I doubt that they would upgrade your site, without a fee, of course. And if they did that, it couldn't just be a mass relpacement of files since they would most likely cause you to lose changes made to the shop.

i just moved a store i built from one server to another and now get this error (which is slightly different) on my /catalog/index.php page. advanced search doesn't seem to be having any problems though.

Many thanks - i have fixed my problem - hope it works for others having a problem.

My hosts were actually really helpful (i contacted them at the same time as i posted). They had in fact upgraded and pointed me to a contribution which i used to fix my site because i didnt want to upgrade and lose my customised site. I too didnt get affected by the advanced search.

Well, the solution is to change each query in the featured sets modules to the correct syntax format - this error arrises with the new SQL 5.0 which your host would have upgraded to. Basically, the left join bit needs to be relocated within the query, if you study the one I've provided and compare it with the original, you shall find the exact nature of the change.
