aznkpride0922 Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I didn't mod osc that much, but tried to maximize item exposure as much as possible, and make it easy to buy items. This site will not be "commercially" operating until July, so please feel free to surf, join, order and etc. For testing purchases, please use the dummy credit card number 4111-1111-1111-1111 for any dates, as given by osc. I need to test various areas for UPS XML contribution especially. Also, I would like to get general feedbacks on general use of the site. If there's something that you think it hinders potential purchases for any reason, I would love to hear what they are. I think e-commerce sites don't have to look professional, but it should lead people to buy something. So please focus on the efficiency of the site for making people "wanting" to buy. Oh.. this site is not finished yet. I still need to add "about us" page for stating our warehouse and where we buy our products, what type of dvds that we are gonna get and so forth, and currently has just few products for testing. Thanks in advance! Here is the link : [CLICK HERE!!]
Guest Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I tend to preference uncluttered sites; so the general look & feel of your site is o.k.. I get that you want to focus mainly on product showcase; but do think about removing the stock oscommerce images from your pages (i.e. the heading title images). It only takes a second to do and it will improve the "feel" of your site a lot. You have a very minimilist design (which works) with these cartoonish heading images (which look misplaced). Also consider changing the color of your price on product_info from orange to your normal font color and save the orange for specials. It just looks a little off, you do not really have that color anywhere else on your pages and then "boom" its just there. Two easy, very quick fixes, that will make your site look more cohesive. About your product focus. Great job! The images do a good job of focusing my attention. I really like the idea of letting the images do most of the advertising. That is until you get to the product_info page. I was enticed by the artwork of the dvd covers but disappointed when I went to the detail pages. It might be good to develop some copy that will keep your customers attention. Maybe post movie reviews from a niche site like pajiba. At a minimum describe the movie. Maybe write your own reviews, something like "Our editorial staff reviews". Anything. Just make this page more interesting. When I entered your store it felt like a little "indie" video place with a counter guy who reads nietzsche. When I got the the product_info page it felt like Walmart. I'm not sure which one you are going for. All in all I like your basic idea.
aznkpride0922 Posted June 18, 2007 Author Posted June 18, 2007 Thank you so much yalisma for your feedback! I appreciate it. You pointed out exactly what I was worrying about!! The product_info page doesn't have enough things to hold customer's attention. So something like reviews would work. Ok. I'll try adding that too  What do you think about showing captured screenshots by flash animation? do you think that would work? and that osc stock images. I'll make sure I remove them  just got little lazy about doing that.. I thought that would just take few seconds as you said  and the price color, you mean that would fit the design better if it is colored grey? I thought red prices would let people find the prcie easily, but ok, I hope I could get more ideas about the price color. Thank you so much for your time and your opinion.:lol: Also, thanks! in advacne for those who will give their thoughts for me

I imagine that it would be work intensive. But a great idea none the less. On the price color - I agree with you on making it stand out. I was looking at your site again, what about making it the orangey-yellow color used in some of your graphics. That might end up being to light. I don't know. Maybe play around with it. I just noticed that it was a color you did not use anywhere else on the site. The designer in me notices color schemes. Yours is gray, black and the orangey-yellow you use in your graphics. I think the price should be one of those colors. Unless its a special, then red (or the orangey-red) is a good idea. But its a minor deal, really. Best of luck

He wanted me to change it to the light orange color I used for some of the graphics and save red for special occasions... which is just what you said!! you have an insight I can say. Thank you. and I'll make sure about that copyrights. Thank you again.
