rickag Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 Hi all: I'm just getting started on the installation process of osCommerce on my own Mac, as a testing server. I am sole user and administrator. I am wondering if it is necessary to use the Terminal to set permissions for the various directories, as described in the "Directory Structure" section of Chapter 2 of the installation guide. Since Jaguar allows you to set file permissions in the Finder, can't I just do it there? Thanks for your help-- Ricka Ricka Gerstmann
sw45859 Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 if you are using it on your home computer and not for public internet browsing then there really isn't a need to set that up. you should be able to do anything you want with the files for the web site.
rickag Posted November 6, 2002 Author Posted November 6, 2002 I'll be using my own computer for setup and testing, but will eventually be taking the site live. I did fix the permissions in the Terminal, but I'm still curious about whether this is still necessary under Jaguar. I may go ask the question on the Apple forums when I get around to it. Thanks for your help-- Ricka Ricka Gerstmann
