Is there any way of knowing what file to edit to change a certin part of the page. All files are named but how do I know what file goes to what part?

Right click on the part you want to change, go to properties. It will tell you the file path there.

Say theres a picture of a cow on your site, and you want to know where it is so you can replace it with a dog. You right click on the picture go to properties and it will tell you the name and type of file it is, and the address where it is located.
