Guest Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Hi guys, just needing advice on this error message. I get stuck on this after creating a mySQL database and then trying to install it. New Installation Database Import A test connection made to the database was NOT successful. The error message returned is: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings. If you require help with your database server settings, please consult your hosting company. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
oschellas Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 How do you specify the server name when installing?
Guest Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 How do you specify the server name when installing? I am ok now, I contacted my webhost company and they told me what settings was required. I was used to using the cpanel features on a different hosting company so it was easier doing it with "localhost" setting and then the database name, password and username. Thanks for your support.
