Need Help Setting Up

I am new to oscommerce.

 

I have extracted the files to the temporary directory and I have a Virtual Server space setup at surpasshosting.com.

 

Do I need to have any PHP knowledge to run this program??

 

If so, then I'm out.

 

If not, then I need someone to help me in plain language either by phone or by email to set this up. Yes I am a newbie, but everyone was at one time or another.

 

 

I was with a total package software from goemerchant.com and they have decided to triple my price for service.

You need to create a new, blank database and have to hand, the db name, your username and password. Then, if you uploaded the catalog directory, type into a browser www.your_domain.com/catalog/install/index.php and follow the instructions. If you uploaded just the contents of the catalog directory, then drop catalog from the url.

 

You don't need PHP knowledge, though it helps a lot if you have. An understanding of HTML, IMO, is necessary.
