What Determines The "new Products For"....

Simple question for you guys, why or what determines which products are shown on the front page of our site under the heading "New Products For...." and is there any control over it (not the amount of titles shown which I know is done in the admin panel, but which titles are shown)?

It's determined by the newset so many items in the store. It simply lists them in order of newsest to oldest. I believe the only control you have over it (without editing the php code) is to determine how many it shows.

 

When you view a cetegory, however it displays only the newest items for that specific category. So if you (for some reason) have no items ion that category, then it will not display anything in the box. Although the box will still display.

Exactly, any newly added products will be shown there.

The only thing I would ask is if we upload a new catalog (we do this every other day), all the records are marked with the same date. So with regards to your answer of only showing the newest, which products would be shown as they are all "New" so to speak.

 

There must be something that determines which ones (12 on our site) are shown other than the "New" records.

 

I hope that makes some sense and look forward to developing this.
