dahammer2
On the windows platform I presume? theres a few phpedit www.phpedit.org - I haven't personally used it, but it will create a file association for you. My favorite editor is editplus www.editplus.com its small and full of awesome features! It won't automatically recognise a .php file, but you can add that in yourself into windows. Infact you can for any program... Install editplus goto windows explorer (windows shortcut+e key) Goto Tools Menu->Folder Options Click on "File Types" Click on "New" Type in "PHP" Click "ADvanced" It'll load all the programs it knows, then scrool down and choose "Editplus 2" Then click "OK" and your done! :)
hobbzilla
You don't need any of the previous mentioned programs. Any text editor will do. ( ie. Notepad). You just might want to get yourself a decent text editor (as previously mentioned) that allows for syntax highlighting of various forms (php, perl, asp, python, c, etc.) for ease of use & productivity. There are plenty of GPL'd text editors out there that perform this simple task.
