cubexsystems.net Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Hello I want to change the skin / template of my oscommerce website. How do i install different oscommerce templates / skins for my oscommerce website. What's the process ?? Kindly guide or refer.
♥Vger Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 There is no 'template' with osCommerce. You either edit the look of it via a number of files, or else you install a template system like the Simple Template System (STS) wich will create an html overlay which you can then edit. Be aware that using STS does have drawbacks when it comes to installing other Contributions. Vger

Adding a contribution most likely alters the core code of osC and some contributions even make modifications to the same line.Older versions of STS did make adding even the most basic contribution difficult but that is no longer the case with any STS version 4 and above. Bill Kellum Sounds Good Productions STS Tutorials & more: STSv4.6, STS Add-ons (STS Power Pack), STS V4 Forum STS Forum FREE TEMPLATE

Regards Fahad Fahad, My comments above were actually aimed at defending the reputation of the "modern" version of the STS contribution. There are many out there who slam this contribution although they have never used it or at least have not seen the great improvements that have been made to it since its original release over 4 years ago. I will agree that the older version of STS did bring on some extra headaches when trying to install additional contributions, but that was mostly related to the changes that STS made to so many of the core files, including the configure.php file. Well, that has all changed since the 4.1 version. STS is now currently at 4.5.2 and has seen vast improvements in speed, ease of use, ease of installation, added functionallity, etc. Bill Kellum Sounds Good Productions STS Tutorials & more: STSv4.6, STS Add-ons (STS Power Pack), STS V4 Forum STS Forum FREE TEMPLATE
