Amazon Integration

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a good oscommerce / amazon seller central integration? Is anyone

working on one? I've got a web store www.worldofbags.com and a seller central account,

and would love to know of a good method of getting my catalog sent via an xml feed to amazon

inventory information exchanged, customer & order information exchanged, and shipping

confirmation / tracking updated. Anyone know of a good system.

Mercent = mediocre

stone edge = primitive

Preferably a contribution / module that sets this up with some tweaking i'm sure..

but i'm open to any suggestions.

Beuller .... anyone .... Beuller?

We've been looking for something to intergrate with amazon.com as well. I recently talked to stone edge and are considering them, you said they are primative, do you have first had experience with it? I'd love to hear about your experiences or any other software you know of....

We're about to launch on a completely different integration system, if it works out ill let you know.

Stone edge was clunky, but cheap. If you don't warehouse your stuff it would be sufficient. All

drop ship models are workable. But not exciting. And definitely not robust.

Yes, please share. Shipworks looks like a good tool! Any current user care to comment? It looks intriguing to be able to generate labels for so many different companies.

World of bags, anymore information on the other system you are trying? Can you give any thoughts on it in comparison to shipworks solution?

Just to give you all an update, we ended up going with the shipworks http://www.interapptive.com/ a few days ago.

So far so good, the install and setup took about 4 hours but the customer service was great and answered all of our questions quickly. It works well, you just click download to get all of your amazon orders and then you can ship them automatically using your UPS, FedEx, or Encidia Dazzle (USPS) account. The only drawbacks we've noticed so far is it requires some horsepower on the main machine, it does not auto select the shipping based upon the shipping method from amazon (although they say this feature is coming next year), and it does not remove the items from your inventory so you have to manually remove each item from inventory which is time consuming. We're only on our 4th day of using it but, so far it is a real time saver on the shipping and order printing end of things. I'll post on here any ups or downs in the coming months we find.

Just wondering if you are still using Automated FedEx Labels now that you have this solution?

Thanks for the heads up!

Yes definately. We are only using the shipworks for Amazon.com. We are still using the fedex automated labels and Endicia for oscommerce orders as shipworks is not any faster than fedex labels and also charges for each store you use it for... So if you used it for Amazon and oscommerce you would get charged twice.

Wow...that's considered 2 different stores? That's more expensive than I thought considering it's recurring monthly payment. Guess the company will have to stick to my not-so-perfect custom Amazon integration solution then :) *Bummer* since I thought the shipworks interface looks exceptionally cool.

Just use it only for Amazon.com would be my recommendation, it doesn't take stuff out of inverntory or update your amazon.com inventory but it saves a lot of time fulfilling orders... Easily worth the $30-$40 per month in time if you consider you save 3 minutes an order times lets say 20 orders a week for a small store = 1 hour saved per week = 4 hours per month so its roughly $10/hr in that example, definately worth it in my book....

Well here is my 30 day report on our shipworks trial we are using for our Amazon.com store

Here are the things that it is lacking:

- No update of oscommerce inventory or items sold list on our oscommerce store.

- It does not select the shipping method based upon the shipping method choosen by the buyer so we have to choose the shipping method for each and every package, it would be nice if this was automated. ex: Expedited = 2 Day Air Standard = Ground, however they say this is coming in the new version scheduled for the beginning of next year. I also have not been able to figure out how to disable any of the shipping options in FedEx so my shipping guys might accidently overnight morning deliver a FedEx package when it should be 2nd day air and cost us $$ - owch!

As you can see their are only a few limitations we have found, and their tech support guy Wes has been great. Overall I would say as an order processing tool it has been fantastic and is a huge time saver over maually shipping each amazon.com package, so we are definately signing up for the full version and I would have to recommend it.

Nice info!!

Although we are the other side of the pond we are also considering amazon.co.uk until we read their sellers fees, which I guess are similar on the .com in $$

"Individuals selling at Marketplace pay a GBP 0.86 per item completion fee, plus a closing fee of 17.25% of the sales price (11.5% for Electronics & Photo items) for each item sold."

OUUUUUCHHHHH in dollars thats about $1.50 to sell PLUS 17.5%

So say we sell something for 10 quid (20$) we have to pay 0.86 plus 1.75 = 2.61 (or about $5) in total.

That is approx one quarter of the selling price.

Something doesnt add up... what am I missing here people?

The Pro Merchant program is what I'm taking about in the forum... It's different from the marketplace vendors, you just have to have 40 products or more you constantly sell. There is like a $30 or $60 monthly fee plus about 15% of the total sale (item + shipping) dependent upon what you are selling but you have no per item fees and you can set your own shipping fees. I'm not trying to sway anyone, we sure don't need anymore competition on there, but It's really not a bad deal when you think about it. So they charge you 15% They take care of the processing, which is 2.25% saved, plus you do not have to worry about chargebacks or fraud (which I hear is high in the UK) so you're at a 12.75% actual charge. Now if you're like us, we generally spend about 10%-20% of our budget in marketing and you do not have to pay for them to do the marketing they pay to list your products on comparison engines and other sites, plus of coarse they are the biggest marketplace in the nation, Amazon.com. So basically it's just as expensive as selling from our own site if you figure in all of the savings and marketing expenses... So I say why not get the extra income?

Hi, thanks for the info.

I think Ebay is bigger than Amazon for sure but based on your explanation its about the same price after a few calculations.

Theres only 1 other vendor that sells our product niche on Amazon so I think we will give it a try..... I noticed they wont charge you anything for unsold items (other than the monthly fee) so it could work out much cheaper than listing hundreds of auctions for.

Thanks again for your imput its appreciated.

From your nickname, I supposed you already know that there already exists such a module . :)

You certainly have a neat looking solution...so the question begs if you care to share it.

Haha good call. I actually would be interested in finding more out about his program though. So it would be great if he would post details and pricing as well...

We have this contribution on one of our websites: www dot holbi dot co dot uk / amazon-oscommerce-integration/

It's expensive at first, but a one off payment. If you take into account that some companies are charging quite a hefty monthly fee, then it works in the long run.

The software works very well - complete integration with oscommerce - it even synchronises the oscommerce shopping cart with your Amazon orders, so stock control is sorted too.

Hi,

we have the oscommerce checkout by amazon seller central account integration. All you need is to sign up for Checkout By Amazon and use the plug-in

Checkout by Amazon (for osCommerce v2.2MS2 and v2.2RC1)

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6647

Checkout by Amazon for osCommerce 2.2RC2

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/6591

we have integrated with the checkout by amazon seller central account with oscommerce. it updates the oscommerce inventory and orders are also pulled from seller central.

Take a look at it.

If you have any queries, please PM me.
