MountainMan
I am trying to find out if anyone else is sharing my experience with this module. Customers find paying with PayPal thru this module confusing. They either think they have completed their order when they have not (and I have to ask them to return to the website and go thru the payment process again), or they give up and pay with my other payment option, which is 2Checkout.com (thankfully, I have no problems with it.) I have had these problems with PayPal for over two years, and they occur weekly. I have no problem with my tests, and some customers also have no problems, so I tend to believe it is not a matter of the technical setup. I am using the current release, and have used other versions in the past, all with the same problem. I think part of the problem is the design of the web pages. PayPay pushes for customers to signup for a PayPal account too strongly. The pages are poorly designed for someone that just wants to process a credit card. I am ready to give up and take PayPal off my website. Anyone experiencing the same problems? Any got solutions? Like to hear from you. Guest
I have the same issues. It's not you...it's PayPal. If the customer has an existing PayPal account, everything is fine. They pay, they are redirected to your Checkout Success screen and their order is logged just fine. If they don't have a PayPal account already? Lord help us. If the buyer chooses to create a PayPal account during checkout, there goes the redirect and return to your website which writes the order to your database. You get a payment...but no order. All you can do is install one of the PayPal IPN contribs...I use version 1.1...which logs their order in Admin whether they return or not. PayPal is a PITA, to say the least. The PayPal IPN mods still don't write the order to the database, so to speak...I mean, the customer never gets an order confirmation email or anything and if they view their account in your website, there's no record of an order ever being placed. But, at least, WE know what they bought when we receive their payments...and we can pack and ship. That's the best this seems to be, at the moment.
