barry_abs
Hi all, Has anybody on the forum successfully implemented Protx VSP Server payments? It doesn't seem very popular round these parts - there's no contribution and little chatter about it.. Cheers!
Guest
I don't see the need for it. Vsp server is Protx's original system with form & direct added later. The only advantage of server over form is that it would give you the abilty to release/refund/repeat transactions from your osc admin. It still requires the customer to leave you site to enter payment details. IMHO Protx direct is the best of the three systems - customers do not leave your site at any point (except for 3D-Secure validation - but that's a whole different issue) AND you can release/repeat/refund via admin. VSP server needs curl & ssl installed on your server as well as a fixed IP - no different to vsp direct. Out of interest - what was it about Protx Server that interested you over Form or Direct? barry_abs
Out of interest - what was it about Protx Server that interested you over Form or Direct? hi tom - thanks for the advice.. you know, that is a good question.. i inherited this project and its semi-implemented VSP Server solution.. i took for granted that Server was the right solution, i haven't even looked at Form.. I'll do some research now - there is a contribution for Form which is a relief.. Direct would be preferable but i need confirmation from my hosts that they provide SSL encrytion and are comfortable with PCI audits. Guest
you do need ssl for Direct - but you should have that whatever payment method you are using (even COD) - as you are taking personal details such as name/address/delivery address etc and customer will not give that without ssl encryption. The current osc protx direct module does not require pci audits (i have confirmed this with protx) becuase no CC data is stored in your database at any time Tom
barry_abs
no CC data is stored in your database at any time is it not? i had assumed it was stored by osC.. well, more reason to use Direct.. thanks for the info, Tom.
