Moving Oscommerce

i just moved my oscommerce over to dreamhost. i changed the config file and restored the database, however when i go to my carts page i get :

 

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /home/.puttintat/username/myhostname.com/shop/includes/functions/database.php on line 19
Unable to connect to database server!

 

any help would be appreciated!

Did u reinstall it or u just copied and pasted in a folder?and if u just paste it did u change config files?

 

oh and something else dreamhost sql sub - domains (sql.domain.com - u have to use somethng similar to your configuration about sql server and not just your domain or localhost) takes some time to activate.

pls. do follows:-

 

1.) install an bland-new OSC to desire folder

2.) copy includes\configure to another foler(means backup)

3.) copy admin\includes\configure to another foler(means backup)

4.) delete all files & folders locates in desire folder

5.) copy a old-osc-shops to desire folder

6.) restore includes\configure & admin\includes\configure of point 2&3.

 

the case works MYSQL same database name that was built

if you know how to edit configure to match coressponding mysql dbase.

 

set the read-only rights to configure files.

 

that procedure takes only a few mins and everything migrated correctly.
