Aphotic Posted May 28, 2007 Share Posted May 28, 2007 i just moved my oscommerce over to dreamhost. i changed the config file and restored the database, however when i go to my carts page i get : Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /home/.puttintat/username/myhostname.com/shop/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! any help would be appreciated! Did u reinstall it or u just copied and pasted in a folder?and if u just paste it did u change config files? oh and something else dreamhost sql sub - domains (sql.domain.com - u have to use somethng similar to your configuration about sql server and not just your domain or localhost) takes some time to activate. dogdogscrew Posted May 30, 2007 Share Posted May 30, 2007 i just moved my oscommerce over to dreamhost. i changed the config file and restored the database, however when i go to my carts page i get : Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /home/.puttintat/username/myhostname.com/shop/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! any help would be appreciated! pls. do follows:- 1.) install an bland-new OSC to desire folder 2.) copy includes\configure to another foler(means backup) 3.) copy admin\includes\configure to another foler(means backup) 4.) delete all files & folders locates in desire folder 5.) copy a old-osc-shops to desire folder 6.) restore includes\configure & admin\includes\configure of point 2&3. the case works MYSQL same database name that was built if you know how to edit configure to match coressponding mysql dbase. set the read-only rights to configure files. that procedure takes only a few mins and everything migrated correctly.
