Manually Install Modules Need Help (payment/shipping/ordertotal). Also Need Help With Email Not Working

Recommended Posts

First off, my problems are very similar to this: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...=install+module

Netfirms is hosting my website, and one of their options is osCommerce to use as the shopping engine. I have a few problems, and most I have been able to get around, but I need some help with this one.

First, the images wouldnt upload from the admin panel, so I did it manually via ftp, and then added the correct paths in the mysql table. This might be related to my big problem. Another thing that might be related is I cannot send emails. For instance I tried sending a test email to myself (I created a customer to my email address) and I never got anything. I also never got a confirmation email when I signed up my test customer account. Any ideas?

I cannot install any shipping, payment, or order total modules. When I click on the links in the admin panel, I just get the folder path echoed to the window. I have never used osCommerce before, but I know there sohuld be something there! Right now the button for "install" on the right is there, however does nothing. I believe I am supposed to see a list of the currently available modules, but all I see is: Module Directory: nt/w0401/d07/s24/b02ac7a2/www/FusionStore//catalog/includes/modules/shipping/

which I do not think is completely correct. between "www" and "FusionStore", I think there should be a folder called "fusioncontrolcentre". So it should be ".../www/fusioncontrolcentre/FusionStore/..."

I looked at the configuration.php and document_root is set with the correct path including the "fusioncontrolcentre" part but that is where it ends, as it should I suppose.

So for some reason, I think it is not set up with the correct path for some reason. Is there a better way for me ot check, or where should I go to manually set this? Should i set the modules path to the full absolute path instead of the relative path it is now with just "/modules"?

I am not too worried about getting that admin panel to do it, if I could just figure out how to do it manually. Should I go into the configuration table in mysql, and add what it needs. But I have no reference to go off of. What should I be adding where to install this stuff manually? Can someone please post a sample of their config table rows that have to deal with the shipping/payment/order total modules.

Of course if I could get all these issues sorted out, that would be best.

Thankyou in advance.

This appears to be both a Hosting issue and an issue related to an incorrect installation.

Can't help you with the hosting - and I'd suggest you try a clean install to get the basic configuration correct.

Well I was able to get the modules to work by setting the absolute paths in the config file rather than the incorrect relative paths.

And I was able to install modules.

However the mass email or email/newsletter of any kind still doesnt work. I am guessing I need to find that file and modify that correctly.

Now I am just having a few issues with the modules themselves.

USPS never returns any data, just says "contact store owner" and FedEx worked once, and never again. I received the meter number and it updated correctly, but then it hasnt worked since. UPS seems to work fine as well as the flat rate.

However when I go to check out and pay via PayPal, the shipping charge doesnt transfer over!

I am sure these last problems are discussed on the forum, so I will try to find them, but at least it is somewhat useable now!

This is a great piece of software. Thanks for everyone involved in developing for it.

I have made an additional images section for the product info section that works really well. Not sure if anybody is interested in it, but it works well for me. It incorporates unlimited additional images read from a table in the main database, and then each thumbnail is linked to a lightbox effect larger image that are all linked together.

Oh and thankyou for help.
