scrapangel
Hello everyone, I have just spent the last hour and a half reading all the newbie post trying to get answers for lots of questions that I have. After reading all of this I can say that I am not afraid of reading or doing my homework to set up my store. I have just finished creating my Message Board/Forum for paper crafting (scrapbooking) using phpBB group . I would like to open a store that is linked to my forum to mainly sell papers and handmade items. I have no understanding of how to read or write HTML or PHP. I did my MB by trial and error and following directions. I am what you can call a complete computer dummy. I have windows XP and was reading that some people have a difficult time installing with the windows. My question is would I be able to do this having no knowledge just by trial and error? I bookmarked a few of the links for future help. And another questions is if I start to install this and make a mistake can I damage my computer? This is one reason I have done nothing for fear of damaging my pc. Thanks in advance and GOD BLESS
spax
I know that lots of computers have suffered damage while installing osC but the amount of damage inflicted, really depends on how hard you can kick it, when something doesn't work straight away. :D Don't worry, you wont harm your PC in any way. You say you already have a forum up and running. Is that on a live server? If it is, you can upload the osCommerce catalog directory and have it as seperate entity. If you want to play with osC on a local server, you can install a package like XAMPP on your PC. XAMPP will give you an Apache server, MySql and PHP so you can edit and view your store. You have a massive community here on the boards so anything you get stuck with, there is usually someone here to help. To be honest, you probaly won't ask anything that hasn't been answered before so the BigG will kick up lots of info.
