Changing Servers

Hello,

I was having quite a few problems with badboyhosting and decided to transfer to godaddy. I have most of the website transferred but all the links with the exception of the index of both the main page and the admin main page give me a link to the old URL. I set up the Name Servers and the Arecord with the current address and I am thinking I forgot to do something with the code since I have done this before with other websites with no problem. The only files I changed that had anything to do with the changing of the name was the configure.php file in both the main and admin includes folders. Is there something else I need to change. The website is WholesalePrices2U.

Thanks,

Curtis

Please don't double post - it's against forum rules.

I'm afraid you jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire when you moved to GoDaddy.

Check in the includes/local/ folders (admin and shop front) to see if there are any alternative configure.php files in them - if you find any delete them.

And remember you need to change the permissions on these files through a file manager application before you can overwrite them with most FTP clients.

Make sure you change them back again as soon as you are done to prevent any malicious people messing it up

Hand made jewellery and tiaras on our website

Please bear with me. Im an osC noobie!

If you have cpanel then you should just be able to back up your entire site and import it to your new host, the only tip is to make sure your using the same cpanel theme on the new account, I have had a few issues importing to a new account but using a differant cpanel theme, A good host might even install the update for you (dont think godaddy will do that) and this way you keep your webalizer records and all is sorted in a few minutes including the database.

If you dont have cpanel then my post becomes a bit pointless.

Good Luck

Thanks for all your replies and help. It turns out that the configure.php files where not being overwritten. I have this php editor that I was using that showed that they where changed but actually they where not. I ended up downloading them and changing them on my computer and then uploading. Once again I appreciate everyone's help.
