Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and am probably asking a question that has been asked several times before, so please forgive me if this is the case.

I'd like to get more people accessing my site, www.thepuzzleshop.com

We have been up and running about a year now, but sales have been slow to come through.

I checked our google page rank on http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php and we are showing as 2/10

I would really like to improve this score so that our site appears further up the list.

I'm not a web site designer or anything, and I don't have any mates that work for google, so was after a few tips on how to get more site hits, in order that I could pass this info onto the guy who designed our site.

If anyone can help me in this quest I would be very grateful.

Regards

Mark

you can advertise your online shop in local newspapers, google adword or other pay per click online advirtisment.

and we are showing as 2/10

2 out of 10 not great, I've seen some 5/10 & 7/10

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

Don't get hung up on Google PR it is a google measurement of "importance" and doesn't necessarily relate to positioning vs your competitors.

Having said that it may well indicate that you do not have enough, relevant, incoming links.

If I were you I'd get going on an incoming links campaign (don't go the route of reciprical links).

Hi Mark

The important thing is that google and other search engine find websites primarily through their robots and spiders.

Robots and spiders usually look in a <meta name... > line in your starting file which is usually the file catalog\index.php

So open that index.php file using a text editor (highly recommended: NoteTab Light or NoteTab Pro  ).

Find the lines

<html <?php echo HTML_PARAMS; ?>>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo CHARSET; ?>">

Immediately after this <meta http-equiv.. line add the following <Meta name=... line.

Change or add to the words within the inverted commas to suit your own website, products etc. Separate each key word using a comma.

<META name="keywords" content="puzzles, rubiks cube, childrens puzzles, wooden puzzles, brain game, intelligence puzzles">

Upload the new file and after a while people should find you easier.

Hope this leads to more success
