Random Product Appeared In My Store

I started working on my store yesterday, today I find a random product has been added by somebody... somehow...

I know it's not one of the demo ones that is in there with the template as I removed all of those and this was in a catagory I created.

Anyways I deleted it, and it's no biggie. but what is a biggie is that someone else was able to get into my store and edit something. How do I prevent this from occuring?

can you access your admin without adding any password at www.yourdomain.co.uk/admin?

Aha, that would be a yes.

Is there a way for me to set a password?

Thanks for your swift reply btw.

You can either protect the admin directory via your control panel or install the admin with access levels contribution

Thanks, I'll see if I can do it through the CP

I don't have ftp access yet so I can't actually use any contributions till I get that sorted out *Groan*

I haven't been able to find a way to set a password in my CP, would this be in the oscommerce CP? Or in my Host CP?

Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction?

Sorry to be a bother but I really am trying!

Morning Helen

Your hosting control panel will have a facility to set a password on the admin folder

If you have any problems then let me know

Mark, could I jump in here and - as another damsel in distress - ask where the hosting control panel is ? (sorry if that is a stupid question) Would that be on my server itself (there's something called a Plesk Desk on my server which I can access)

Hi Dane - No problem jumping in :)

Yes Plesk will be your control panel and you should be able to protect the admin directory from within there

I don't use Plesk for my hosting accounts so I can't really say where it will be but there will be an option in there some where

Hope that helps

EDIT: Try this tutorial
