Ups Xml 1.2.7 Disables Proceed To Checkout, Help!

I installed UPS XML 1.2.7. When I go from Cart Contents to Checkout, the catalog/checkout_shipping.php file will not open, eventually resulting in a Page Not Be Displayed error page. If I disable the XML module, the site functions perfectly. Is there something that I need to change in the checkout_shipping.php file or another file I should check?

Better try to find out from your ISP if there is a PHP error logged somewhere. A blank page is not very useful to go on.

I'm actually having the same problem (blank page on checkout_shipping.php). I'm also just using a free webhost to try out osCommerce before committing to a real webhost. Are you sure this is an ISP problem?
Not necessarily, but when your ISP has PHP configured to not echo errors to the screen of the user (which makes very much sense) you don't know what the error is too. If they instead log the errors (which makes very much sense too) you can still find out about the error. Otherwise it is a stab in the dark (could be a missing file, a wrong configuration e.g. enabling dimensions support but not having added boxes to ship in admin/packaging.php, cURL not configured on the server or you need to use a proxy for cURL etc.).

cURL is a requirement for UPS XML?

Using cURL is the only way to have a https connection and since passwords etc. are exchanged with UPS they (correctly) insist on using a secure connection.

does this mean my site needs an ssl certificate to communicate with UPS? I found a new webhost with cURL, and now the error message is more generic:

120001: XML Shipping System is unavailable, please try again later.

Haha. The problem was the fake customer I was using to test- he didn't have a valid address at all.
