westcoast1 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Hi Everybody, I am new here so please bear with me. How do I remove an htaccess file if I can't find it? A little while ago, my admin was wide open because we just installed it to the server (godaddy). I took a break for a little while, and came back, and now the admin is password protected. I went into the ftp, and found it in the includes file and deleted it, have no clue how it got there, however the admin is still locked down. I looked for anymore htaccess files, but din't find any. Anyone have any idea how to unlock the admin? Any help would appreciated. Thanks Robert
user99999999 Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Look for protected directories in your webhosting control panel. Dont delete .htaccess files, ftp download and edit if needed.

What exactly would give it away that it is a protected file? Anything missing from below? Per godaddy's instructions this is the format for the htaccess file /home/content/?/?/?/??????/html/.htpasswd AuthGroupFile /dev/null AuthName Password Here AuthType Basic require valid-user Thanks for the help!!
