I do try to document as much as I can... I have been thru a lot of the forums looking for this info but cann't find it... I have one started online and I installed another under a different folder... is it pratical to practice on one this way and then put in the changes on the other when the turn out good ? thanx
Guest
If your site is heavily mod'ed, the best thing you can do is keep a backup of the entire site directory structure. There is also a backup utility in the admin panel under tools that will backup the database. In my opinion, the database is more important than the files, as a plain vanilla installation can function from the data backup - you have to track down all of your mods and or graphics though. Once you get the site files synced with your local copy, most ftp clients(fileZilla does) will allow only newer files to be uploaded/overwritten so you won't have to download the entire site every time you make a few changes.
