cnotions Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 When I try to view "My Store", I get the pink error message across the top of the screen "I am able to write to the configuration file", etc. and it says to change the permissions on configure.php. We tried setting the permissions to 644, then to 444, then to 400. We still get the message. When I try to change to 444, it reverts back to 644. When I try to change it to 400, it reverts to 600 (using FileZilla FTP). The files are hosted on a Linux web server. Thanks for any help.

Give the read only permissions to configures.php and check it.
Guest Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Give the read only permissions to configures.php and check it. nothing works... read only is chmod 444 or not? and in ws_ftp it would change it, with fileZilla it change automaticly to read read read/write
TriDung Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I tried to chMod "101" and it was ok. But my friends said that just some host server support that (I m using yahoo's hosting)
myozone Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 nothing works... read only is chmod 444 or not? and in ws_ftp it would change it, with fileZilla it change automaticly to read read read/write I too had the same problems and had to take a crash course in knowing what your doing !! eventually i found that the only REAL way to change the permissions is to use an SSH connection direct to the server then use the linux command 'touch' to take ownership of the file, then chmod 444 to set permissions, i know this post is quite old but i had found my own answer i could have saved myself 2 days (if you know what i mean). you will need the full directory depth (as shown on the error screen you probably got about configure.php) and you will need an SSH client (i used PUTTY which was great and has a GUI). hope this helps anyone that's looking.
