Adding Fields to create_account.php

First let me say that I know nothing about PHP programming :) So I'm trying to do my best. I searched the forums for the past 3 days trying to find how to add fields to the create_account.php (and the files associated) and couldn't find a help thread or a contribution that was what I needed.

So.. I tried venturing on my own.

I opened create_account.php and added "forum name" as one of my new fields;

I got the input field to show, but when I fill it out, I receive this error;

1054 - Unknown column 'customers_forum_name' in 'field list'

So my questions are;

- why am I getting the error, and how can I fix it?

- what other files do I need to update?

- do I need to add code to customers.php as well (so I can see this information in the admin area)?

The fast and painless way is to rename one of the existing fields for your use

for example Company rename to Forum Name.

if you can't do that than you need to make changes not only to create_account ,but also to form_check.js and customers.php in admin area

and also make changes to DB table

that error you are getting refer to column in DB table which is not exist

Thanks.. that's definitely an option I'm going to try.. though I still need to add additional fields as well. What is the DB table & where can I edit it?

I find it hard to believe there aren't any contributions that deal with this issue?
