Newsletter Listing Sender As "Mail"

Guest

Recommended Posts

Hello!

When I send a newsletter the receiving email account lists the sender as "mail". I want it to list the sender as "punkrockcds.com". Anyone know how to do this?

Cheers,

Mark.

Click on "E-mail from".

Click on "Edit".

In the box put something like [email protected] , or whatever you prefer.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Hello Jim,

Thanks a lot for your help. I did as you said and set the "E-mail From" thing to [email protected]. Now the receiving email account lists the sender as "no reply". I realise now that it is listing the sender as whatever comes before the @punkrockcds.com part. Is there a better way of solving this other than setting it up as [email protected]?

Cheers.

Mark.

What email program are you using to read the email to determine the "sending" email address?

Hello Jim,

I've been testing it by sending the newsletter to my personal email account at cbgb.net and it seems to be this that is determining the name of the sender. I found this out by also sending it to a hotmail account. Hotmail does list the sender as [email protected] which is great. But this presented another problem in that it put the newsletter straight into the "Junk" folder!! Any ideas?? Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,

Mark.

I'm stumped.

The instructions I posted were all I had to do on the site I've been working on, and the newsletter works just fine.

I suppose it could have something to do with the email configuration on your server...

That's a whole other can of worms again

:o

As to your Hotmail account... Sounds like you need to edit the spam filter, or add the email address to your contacts/addressbook.

I don't have Hotmail so I don't know how it works exactly.

Hello Jim,

No problem! I'll keep working on it. There must be a way of doing this. Obviously I don't want to be sending out newsletters if they're just going to go straight to the customer's "Junk" folder. I'm sure when companies like Amazon send newsletters they don't have this problem!! Thanks a lot for your help!

Cheers,

Mark.

If you want, you can send a newsletter or email to me and I'll see what the "from" email address is.

As for your newsletter going to the SPAM folder....

You can't control the SPAM settings of the people you send newsletters to. If they have them set to deliver any email from people not in their addressbook to the SPAM folder (I've had mine set that way), to the SPAM folder it will go no matter what you do.

My Wife does this all the time. She's signs up for stuff, and then the 1st email from them ends up in the SPAM folder. I just rescue it, and add the senders email address to the addressbook so it doesn't happen again.

Hello Jim,

That's great! I really appreciate your help and I think I might have figured it out!! I've searched through various posts on this forum and in the "email from" section I put Punkrockcds.com <[email protected]> In my cbgb email account and also in Hotmail it now lists the sender as Punkrockcds.com (Great!!) and Hotmail didn't put the newsletter in the "Junk" folder!! (Excellent!!) I'll send you a newsletter or email in the next couple of days and you can let me know. Perhaps I can sell you some punk CDs (Ha! Ha!) I'd be interested to know what you think of the site aswell? Thanks again for all your help!

Mark.
