sgtpepper
We have an online store that is working great....but we also allow people to walk into our traditional store to purchase items available on the website. The problem is that 'walk ins' really dont have the time to wait for our desk person to 'create an account' in the online store. They want to give us credit card info....get their product and leave. So, what ends up happening is these credit cards are processed manually and online store inventory is sent out of sync. I dont allow the front desk people access to the admin section of the store. What can be done to make walk in purchases easy to process through the online store? I have looked for a contribution that would help....but haven seen anything....am I missing it? Do you have any suggestions on how we can easily process walk in orders through the store? Thanks! Are Oompa-Loompa's asexual?
MatthewRitchie
The Only thing you can do is: dump Oscommerce and get apache ofbiz. you may want to do this along side osc and read/write to the same database. dont ask me how though. matt
MatthewRitchie
sorry - apache Ofbiz 'open for business' available from the apache foundation it is an almost complete erp system 'enterprise resource planning' with ecommerce shop, stock control eventry, point of sale etc etc etc + manufacturing work flows. what you are looking for is the POS point of sale. i think you can also plugin bar code scanners see link

sgtpepper
Does anyone have an idea about this....other then dumping the store? I am not trying to use a cash register or anything like that.....I just want to allow people to walk into my establishment and purchase with a credit card......but I want to log the purchase in my online store.... Basically, some sort of admin account that I can use..... Basically, some sort of admin account that I can use..... Would the customers actually be at the computer completing the purchase, or would the employee be doing it for them? If it's the employee, I'm thinking of two ideas... 1. Look up the contribution where you can make a purchase without an account - of course, you would still have to put the customer's name and address in.... 2. You could create an "account" for the store or for each employee... Then, when a customer needed to make a purchase with the card, the employee could sign in under their own account to complete the transaction as if they were the customer and just put in the different credit card information each time. Just a thought! :)
