spot_on
Hello again, I'm helping a customer set up osCommerce. We can get the store working, well, visible, but no amount of messing will let us into the Admin pages. I have scoured the support forum for help, and tried lots of things, including a complete re-install. I have also called my ISP 5 times now, and no-one seems to be able to help. The latest errors are Warning: require(includes/application_top.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/myserver/s/mydomain.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/index.php on line 13 Can anyone help...please? Is anyone else finding this all a bit too much.... I used to be a programmer... now I have grown stubby wings and clawed feet and go around saying gobble-gobble... Guest
Have a look at catalog/admin/includes/configure.php and make sure all of the physical and virtual paths are correctly configured. To, verify that includes/application_top is where it's supposed to be.

To, verify that includes/application_top is where it's supposed to be. Thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated. But what should the paths look like? I have pasted the full path from the error message, checked the files are where they should be, and no change at all. Anything else I can try? spot_on
Thanks Fatal error: Cannot re-assign $this in /home/fhlinux171/s/sarksilver.com/user/htdocs/catalog/admin/includes/classes/upload.php on line 31 New error, I got a letter wrong in the path. Not sure how that happened! The new error is as above. Is this to do with register_globals? If so, how do I solve this please. Thank you

spot_on
What did the issue end up being with the last error & what did you do to fix? Ummm... I think I just commented out the lines which were causing the problem... Bet it's all going to go horribly wrong at some point.
