Second how do I insert the language for the store policies? I have Front page as my editor??? or do I do all of this in the control panel?
Guest
What do you mean "instructional language"? Your admin pages are located in the /admin folder of your store. Also, you can't edit oscommerce layout with FrontPage. oscommerce is a PHP program and FrontPage is used to edit HTML pages. You need to use a FTP software to edit the PHP yourself. Guest
And where would I find this software, or is there a way to edit in osC? In your admin panel under "Tools", you have a file manager where you can edit all the files in your store. If you aren't familiar with PHP, you should not mess with them otherwise you can really screw up your whole store. Just be sure you make a backup of each file before you edit it. Ok I found out where the problem is, I had to go in through WS-FTP and change the permissions befor it would let me make the change. Do you know of a good online manual for PHP. I taught html ten years ago at the JC, but I havent kept up with the newer languages. I am A quick learner. Just flying by the seat of my pants right now trying to get this site up before the grand opening of te brick & morter in two weeks.
Guest
Go straight to the source! (no pun intended) http://www.php.net/docs.php. Unless your a quick study though, It's no likely something you'll pick up overnight. There are a lot of other php sites out there too that have a more instructional approach. Try http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp, or http://www.phpbuilder.com/, etc. If you are trying to get the store up, you don't need to do much with the code side so much as getting thing set up and customized as set forth in the osC documentation here: http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions/documentation. The "instructional text" even tells you what file to edit to change the text on the default install.
