Hi all and thanks for looking!

Please take a few moments to look through my website at http://www.idfresh.net - I'd like some of the following feedback so we can efficiently amend the store to match customer usability.

Ease of Use - how easy is the website to use?

Product Selection - do you feel there are enough products?

Product Pricing - do you feel the items are priced significantly lower than a retail counter-part?

Suggested Add-ons - which available from osCommerce contributions do you feel would improve the store?

Any other freestyle feedback would be great too. We just want to provide a generally easy-to-use website that provides an excellent product. Thanks again for looking ;)

love the graphics on the site, nice colors, easy on the eyes. Very easy to navigate. I'm in the US so I can't comment about the prices, but overall I like the site.

There is one thing that I really like about your site - and that is the way you used flash. 99% of e-commerce sites use flash the wrong way, as a decorative tool; but you use it correctly. Looking at your digital mp4 player; the flash functionally illustrates the product and never becomes extraneous. Nice :)

That being said, I have two recommendations for your site. First, your 'buy now' buttons are way to subservient to the site design. You could probably raise conversion rates with a more eye catching button scheme. Next, I would like to point out that there is a lack of contrast on your site. Typically, sites that are 800X600 use a darker background color to add contrast and draw people's gaze to the center content. Your site lacks this - a usability faux pas that may or may not be affecting your business. I don't know.

Overall, the site looks good. Hell, I would buy one of your mp4 players today if the exchange rate between the dollar and pound sterling wasn't so god awful.

Best Regards,

You might get rid of the "click to enlarge" link since it doesnt enlarge; besides the image below in the product description is large and clear.

Feedback...

I'll do it my usual way, writing down what comes to my mind while I'm looking at the site.

1) What do artifical teeth have to do with mp4 players and all the other tech stuff?

2) Maybe you are going to sell everything to polish up my ego?

3) The white cross in the red circle in your log reminds me of Switzerland. What's the connection?

4) Page title of index.php is still osCommerce.

5) The homepage speaks two languages: english on most parts but french on some categories.

6) Links on your dropdown menu below the cart contents are only partly working. When I'm not logged in, don't give me links to the addressbook. I'm then taken to the login page without any further info and now this nifty navigation is gone.

7) There is no search available on your pages. It's only the dropdown on index but that's gone once I'm away from index.php so no way to search your site anymore.

8) Switching to my native language German. What's this: 256-512MB Erinnerung? Memory is as in hardware memory is called just that. Erinnerung is memories as in remembering past events. Most other parts are still in English. Only offer other languages if you really offer them throughout your site.

9) Following through to any category from German looses the language and now I can buy "Memoria" - Italian?

10) Where are your shipping/returns, privacy policies and your terms and conditions?

11) Couldn't figure out where exactly your business is located. No phone number or physical address. Not even a country to go by.

12) I like the way the product is presented on pages like this: http://www.idfresh.net/product_info.php/cP...products_id/180

13) Again the languages: you need to provide your buttons in every language you support.

14) On shopping_cart.php your buttons are so small and of equal value that a potential customer has to look very closely where to click to checkout.

15) You certainly need to work on your SEO. Product and category pages should have a better title. Your URLs are reworked to use / instead of the usual ? and & but that's not enough to rank well in search engine results. Try the ultimate SEO URLs contrib.

I'll stop now. There are lots of things you need to sort out before the site will be easy to use and functioning properly.

Feedback and suggestions on my shop welcome.

Note: My advice is based on my own experience or on something I read in these forums. No guarantee it'll work for you! Make sure that you always BACKUP the database and the files you are going to change so that you can rollback to a working version if things go wrong.

My god man, you have hidden keywords!???

Google is going to squeeze you like a tube of tooth paste, and brush its teeth with your love.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a quick look and I like the site, but as abra said, it needs quite a lot of work on the SEO side if you want to reap the benefits of having a good looking site.

See my profile for our main OSCommerce site. My views are not necessarily the views of my employer.

It is not true, I have tried visit https://www.idfresh.net/ and my browser shows the error message that this website is not secured by https protocol or SSL certificate.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Hi there,

Thanks for looking at the website. Your statement is quite true, due to an unexpected account error leading to a downgrade in my hosting plan - the SSL certificate was wiped out. This is to be rectified again within the next few days.

Thanks again,

Oooops, forgot to mention everything else.

Thanks for everyones feedback. The website at the moment rely's on hard marketing as opposed to online marketing (which does sound the wrong way wrong). The reason we prefer hard marketing at the moment is because we intend strongly on opening a retail shop in a location (hence location, about information, etc not being entered just yet).

The keywords at the bottom of the page were used for the original trawl of the website by older search engines - these are to be removed and as per your recommendation the ultimate SEO mod will be used.

Google... AdWords or no AdWords. Preferably once I have removed the keywords listed at the bottom of footer.php I will use GoogleAdwards alongside another pay-per-click company that has been recommended to me. This wont come into play until I have sorted out other problems with the website in regards to navigation, usability and of course the languages. Language-wise I may only support 1 language as it could become costly to hire a linguist to translate each new product etc.

But either way, I'll keep you lot updated in about a weeks time because the feedback you're giving is fantastic :)

Thanks everyone!
