Problem removing extra images from product page

Recommended Posts

I looked around, but couldn't find anything about this issue.

I want to remove some of the images from a product page (reduce from 5 sub images and large images, to 2 of each), and previously I could do so by typing a space in place of the file name. When I do this now the program will not let me update, and I can not remove the image. The program will let me change the picture, but I want to take some out.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance!

try completley renaming the image ie images1 becomes image123 etc , or try deleting the images from your control panel if you no longer need them

If you can remember the mod you used to add extra mages, download the files, see if there is a manual, then adjust the number of images you want to display n the relevant file.

Hope this helps you

Thanks for your reply!

Any idea why just typing a space (blank) no longer removes the file?

I don't want to use less photos in all areas, just take away a few from certain products, and I don't want to entirely delete the photos from my site.

How would I go about re-naming the images? I'm not really clear on how this would help. I have been using os commerce for a few years, but have always been too afraid to try anything very adventurous.

No problem!

OK, space in title has never worked for me regarding removing pictures, might be a new patch etc... not sure

By delete photos I meant just the ones that you dont want showing. The page is linking to those particular photos to add in (ie image1) , if they arent in your control panel, then it cant put them in.

Same reason for changing the name. The page is looking for image1, image 2 etc (whatever your images are called). If you change the name of the picture (by using the rename option in your control panel) then the page will only find 1 and 2 therfore only show those. (If that makes sense).

Its good to be adventurous! But remember this one thing BACK UP FIRST. I promise you by backing up it will save a lot of stress later on down the line.

Alternatively you could do this: replace your image with an image the same colour as your background - then it will just blend in. That way if you want to add more images in later, you can just upload the new one.

Best of luck to you!
