Trentide
Hi, thanks for looking at my post! I can get from 10-20 people on my site a day. That's hardly enough. let me tell you what I've done so far: 1. added "ultimate seo url" contribution 2. added "cDynamic meta tags" contribution 3. added a google site map 4. added session id kill for spiders 5. added content on home page 6. I submitted my url to: google, yahoo, dmoz, and live search, and i think ask jeeves (but never heard back from them) 7. I have been posting on different forums but can probably post more. What I haven't done is get quality links. This is proving to be time consuming, but I'll get to it. And what I think I need help with is keywords, and keyword descriptions. How does one research what keywords are better than others? If you don't mind, can you check out my site and give me some feedback? I truly appreciate it! here's the link: Visit My Website Jason
Jack_mcs
It's most likely becasue you haven't setup the keywords properly. Your main keyword appears to be T-shirt but the page title is Sub Citizen. Plus, there are duplicates in the keywords meta tags and way too many of them, but that is a failing of CDynamic and I'm not sure if that can be fixed. Trentide
Thanks for your insight Jack_mcs! I really appreciate it! I really feel lost at this point. Do you mind if I ask a few question? Here goes: Your main keyword appears to be T-shirt but the page title is Sub Citizen. 1. Does this mean that they should be the same? I'm not clear on this. Plus, there are duplicates in the keywords meta tags and way too many of them 2. This sounds silly, but I don't see any duplicates. I know I put in t shirts a bunch of different ways. That's so I cover all the ways it could be spelled. Is this a mistake? Ahhhh, I feel so lllooosssttt! Thanks for the info Jack_mcs. Any and all additional info would certainly enlighten my dark world! Jason
Jack_mcs
1 - Yes, the beginning of the title should match the first keyword (actaully, all keywords) for the page. 2 - Hmm, when I looked earlier there was more than one instance of t-shirt but their isn't now so I don't know what to say about that. Trentide
Sorry Jack_mcs, After reading your post, I changed my keywords a bit. I had different variations on T-shirt (ie. tshirt, t-shirt, and plural versions). I thought that was a good way to cover all the ways someone can type in that word. That's not a good way to go? Also, are you saying that my title should include all my keywords? Thanks Again Jack_mcs! I really appreciate it!
Jack_mcs
The SE's handle plurals so including them is not needed. The title should consist of your keywords, separated by a dash (for clarity only). Each page of your site should have, at most, three keywords. It is common practice to overload the keyword meta tag and it is wrong to do so. satish
rather then focusing on key words focus on key phrase. Plus do not take a very competitive key phrase. Also the the product naming in such a way that it has some key phrase part. Also google keeps site in sandbox so if Your site is new have some patience. Also chek whether the bots are allowed to spider or not.For this take a look on robots.txt and htaccess files. Satish Ask/Skype for Free osCommerce value addon/SEO suggestion tips for your site. Trentide
Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it! Each page of your site should have, at most, three keywords. Other competitors sites I have visited, if I can see them at all, usually display more than 3 keywords, and they have much better search engine placement than I do. Are they placed better for other reason other than their keywords? The next question is: How do I go about choosing effective keywords that aren't overused? Thank you so much Jack_mcs!! Trentide
Thank you so much satish for your imput! I really need a lot of help!! Can you tell me, how many key phrases should I use? I don't understand the part about the product naming. Can you give me an example using, let's say, t shirts? Do you mean that the t shirt name should be called one of my key phrases? The products that I carry already have been given names by the manufacturer. How long will Google keep me in the sandbox usually? Do you know? Thanks again for your help. I truly appreciate all your imput! Jason

Jason Yes, many, if not most, sites, overload the keywords but it is not the correct way to have them. If they are indexing well for a particular keyword then it is because of some other reason. You choose your keywords by going to a site like overture and checking the number of searches done on keywords related to your products. Generally results in the 100,000 range provide the best results in the quickest time. worldofbags
I Feel lostJack As for yahoo, I had to use the paid submit, and was accepted soon thereafter, it has been very very worth while $300 to have it looked at has paid itself off a dozen times at least. Have you considered putting up a product feed on froogle, its free to use froogle, and there are some froogle contributions in here

Have you considered putting up a product feed on froogle, its free to use froogle, and there are some froogle contributions in here I just saw your site, liked your products so much I decided to purchase a t-shirt. I signed up and went through checkout... until I saw the postage cost to the UK. $70 - $75 to the UK for 1 t-shirt? I pay that for a big box of supplies from my US supplier. Remember, I'll also have to pay import duty on top of that! Surely you should be charging half this! that's what I'd see as reasonable, then I'd have finished the order. It's a shame, I really like that T-shirt!!! Read the forum rules...
Trentide
Thanks for the input Hade! I didn't realize that it cost so much for the t shirt to the UK! I've done test purchases from a ficticious address from London and it didn't cost that much. Can you tell me, was this something that was going to be sent USPS (US Postal Service) or UPS (United Parcel Service)? I know that UPS is rather expensive. I only have it there as an alternative to USPS; in case someone doesn't like their service. (10 minutes later) Ok, I just checked my USPS service. It's not up and running. I know that they've changed prices yesterday. I'm going to have to figure out what's going on there. When I check my ebay auctions, I'm also having problems with the USPS calculation there as well. Hade, USPS is the service you would have used if you bought the shirt. I think the cost for the shipping would have been from $8.00 to $25.00 depending on the speed and/or service you choose. Please check back in the next couple of days. I'm sure I would have resolved this situation by then. Take Care, Jason
Hade
The only options are: United Parcel Service (1 pkg x 2 lbs total) United Parcel Service UPS Worldwide Express, EDD: May 21, 2007 $75.76 UPS Worldwide Expedited, EDD: May 24, 2007 $70.26 I wouldn't call the standard mail 'USPS' if it's international. Call it International Airmail or something. My supplier uses next-day UPS! it really shouldn't cost that much. Read the forum rules...
Trentide
Thanks for your input, Hades. As I suspected there was problems with the USPS International info. Apparently the US Gov. changed the names of the services and made the previous names null and void. So I made the corrections and it all should be working now. Here are the rates to England for shipping a Tshirt. Global Express Guaranteed $56.85 Express Mail International (EMS) $35.60 Priority Mail International $24.85 First-Class Mail International $14.45 First class speed varies usually in the weeks. Priority mail service takes 6-10 days. Express mail takes about 3-5 days, and Global Express takes 1-3 days. Thanks again for notifying me of this problem. Apparently the names and rates were changed on Monday. Cheers, Jason by the way, what part of England are you from? My wife is from Leicestershire. I feel like I'm going to loose money. I am doing adwords, and I'm simply not making enough orders to warrant the expenditure. Do you think the yahoo paid submit will work better? Also, froogle looks cool. Thanks for that! (Although now it's called "Google Product Search" I'm defineatly going to do that! Really, thanks for your input. I appreciate it! Hade
I think you should have the estimated delivery times in brackets after each option, I wouldn't have a clue chat to choose otherwise! I just completed my order. I clicked on 'Confirm Payment' when I reached the Paypal page, when I went back to it, it'd gone back to your login page. I logged in and it took me back to checkout_shipping.php. I've checked Paypal and payment was completed. Read the forum rules...
Hade
I've checked and the order doesn't seem to have logged in My account (on your site). Maybe a fault there.
