how do you make a store live? i just dont know how...

Not exactly sure what you mean by making default account live.

When you upload oscommerce to your server you are live at that point.

store is always live unless You have kept it in maintenance mode.

well i get this message when i look at the online catalog

1. the osc store is live as long as the server is live;

2. someone gives you a brick & mortar store with some dummy products in it. Even a fool would know how to turn it into a real store that sells his/her own products - by removing and replacing the dummy products with his/her products, or if s/he can't be bothered, then hire someone to do it for him/her. Same applies to an osc online shop.
