amy_burton2007
Hi! I'm new to osCommerce so I am posting this question. Am I right to say that osCommerece can run on any host that supports PHP 4? For example, can I just get a website from Yahoo Web Hosting and run osCommerce on it? I know Yahoo has Web Merchant but I would rather use osCommerce. Thanks! mtechama
You use any host as long that supports PHP, and MySQL and HTML. Wade Morris Amarillo, Texas Before you do any changes on your site you need to do BACKUP! BACKUP!
evalguy
Mostly, but not always though. A year ago I tried GoDaddy for osC, but their setup had some php functionality disabled (for security reasons). Trying to figure out a workaround with their tech support proved frustrating, so I just went elsewhere.

Yahoo seems to be one of the ones that it has the most problems with. If you search the forums here you will find many posts about that. Whatever host you go wih, ask them if they will install oscommerce for you (if they don't have a script to do so) and will they support it afterwards. If the answers are no, then you can expect problems later on and you should look elsewhere for hosting.
