installation problem REALLY NEED HELP!!!

hi when i go to install the catalog i get to the screen saying the test connection to the database is successful i click continue and it goes back to step 2!! (the one after the initial install page) i tried swithing the account from linux (PHP) to windows (ASP) but just get a differnt error please help!!

No - it doesn't help you. Even a paid-for hosting account with Go Daddy is a problem when running osCommerce - and as osCommerce is a PHP programme then trying to install it on a Windows server with ASP is a complete waste of time.

This needs to be turned to ON in the php.ini file (you will need to

hi i tried to switch that on but i couldn't find the php.ini file anywere and i have changed the account back to php

but you can do installation by hand without installer script, much quicker...

 

you can create the php.ini in a root folder of your website with the following line:

register_long_arrays = ON

 

or alternately on some hosting you can use .htaccess file:

php_flag register_long_arrays on

you can try to get godaddy to turn on register_globals, but I really doubt they will.

 

search my screen name on the forums, you will find a recent post where this problem was solved... you have to apply a patch that is available for download.
