Help! I'm getting Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions

I'm trying to change information in the info box, and I follow all necessary steps and make changes in Notepad, but when I come back to upload it back into the English directory I get this "Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions" and there is no upload option. os Commerce is my host! What can I do?

osCommerce cannot be your host, because this project does not provide hosting.

 

To edit files you need to FTP to your website, download the file you want to edit, edit in a Plain Text editor like Notepad, Text Pad or Crimson Editor, and then upload again via FTP.

Thanks for the reply. I'm totally new to this and trying to learn! Are you saying I need to download an FTP software, and do you suggest any particular one? Thanks for your help!

I recommend using either WS FTP Home (30 day trial and then paid, but the best FTP programme), or else

 

FileZilla, free, but not as User Friendly as WS FTP Home.
