Feedback on "Head Shop" Store

Recommended Posts

Hi there.

Having dipped my toes into the water with my first store for a friend's snowboard shop (see this thread). I have completed my first 'paid' website for a head shop based in Sheffield UK. The brief included quite a lot of modifications to the standard osCommerce build (which included installing a number of contributions and the authoring of new modules) and also required me to get my head around Shipping Modules, and also do do a lot of work for SEO.

The site has been live for about 5 days now, and we are just waiting fro Google to get around to indexing it!

You can visit the store at www.spaceman.co.uk.

I am aware that the shop still has a very osCommerce-y look-and-feel to it, but the client was quite happy with this! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew.

Nice site - seems very clean, has tons of products, and seems to work well. It does seem that you have lots of contribs and they seem to be well integrated.

The link to your company (I guess), www.161design.net doesn't go to a live site (site not found).

Adding bigger and better photos would add a lot - it was sort of disappointing to see an image about the same size as the thumbnail when I hit click to enlarge. The full size image presentation fits the head shop motif, I believe, so having some killer images to go along with that would add to the effect.

You should use a Contact Us page that provides the store information including hours and phone number (like Super Contact Us Enhancement).

One thing that does seem to be missing is a head shop type look and feel - maybe you could add that by changing the info box heads and buttons to something more outrageous - not the very rectangular heads that you are now using, and not the nice, but very straight laced, buttons. The info box design and the buttons could be very distinctive, maybe show part of a cannabis leaf that people would recognize or have some other such defining characteristic. Even repeating the starry night background in these elements would be better. And, the buy now button should be more prominent and different than the others (per Victor363).

In any case, good job and good luck with the site.

Tony

Nice site - but I do agree with tastar that the heading and buttons need to be a little more outrageous - it does look a little staid.

I see the shop is near my old stamping ground (I used to work at the old Royal Hospital)!
