eureka
My site is on vitual domain (using Plesk) with no fixed IP, when logging in I get a warning the security certificate does not match my website. Although it's a secure certificate issued to Plesk.com, I want to remove the message to ease my customers. Will purchasing a fixed IP address and a security certificate (QuickSSL?) overcome this problem. Will the Plesk control panel then enable the "Certificate" button? I asked the host but they weren't very helpful.
dahammer2
Yep, when you have a ip based plan the certificate button will be enabled. I'm not sure if you host cant' permeantly disable it tho...
addaction
I am not too familiar with Plesk, but if you buy your own certificate for your domain name and it is installed corretly, you will not get that warning anymore. It gives you the warning because someone tries to access your site: say domain1.com while the SSL certificate is issued for say plesk.com
hobbzilla
I asked the host but they weren't very helpful. And you find this acceptable? I would suggest finding a host who knows what they are doing.. You don't want to setup an online e-commerce catalog with that kind of hosting company. Just helps you generate and upload the various files, might even auto contact the certificate issuer company. So he won't get the message if he use's it, I think he currently understands why he's getting the message (i.e. hosts shared certificate)
