New product: add URL?

I am adding products for the first time - and the form is asking me for a Products URL: (without http://). What am I expected to put into this field? Is is the URL to the image I am uploading for the product? If so why can't it work it out for itself - save me the typing?

That feild is for a external link for more information on that product

EG

Your selling a Sony Stereo

and you enter www.sony.com in that field for the product page to display this link for more info

 

just type in the url of the site without the http://

 

Like me I changed the wording and used this feild to direct to our picture gallery :)
